Let's look back early in December:
December 3, 2023 - in the Sugar Bush |
December 4, 2023 - in our yard |
In the week leading up to Christmas, the temperatures became above freezing. It rained and all the Christmas card snow disappeared. We had some of the warmest December days on record.
Here are pictures from our walk on Boxing Day from the sugar bush:
This was our front yard on December 29.
While on one hand, temperatures of 7C/45F are much nicer than a deep freeze, sometimes it is very hard to deny climate change. We are expected to have a shorter, less snowy winter, with some more violent storms. We will see what January brings.
Thanks to Rosy and Sunny for hosting Nature Friday.

ReplyDeleteThat looks more like a Scottish winter, now, Pupsters. Things are definitely changing... you are keeping good record! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
Sorry Phod, I know how much you love snow... since i have lived more than 3/4 of a century I can tell you the climate has and is changing more each year... that is first hand knowledge not some politican blathering on
ReplyDeleteIt's sad to see your snow disappearing so early in the year and we hope those violent storms steer clear!
ReplyDeleteOh no! We're sorry to see all your snow disappeared. On the other hand there is less shoveling your parents have to do.
ReplyDeleteWell I am scratching my head...wondering if our Spring Melt guess is over before it began

Crazy weather...we just got about 3 inches of snow here, and our Winter is suppose to be freezy cold and snowy. Silly El Nina!
ReplyDeleteDon't fret. I know where they make snow and will order some for you.
ReplyDeleteWe haven’t gotten hardly any snow here…though the weather people say we might get some next week.
ReplyDeleteWow, so little snow. Will there even be a 'when will the last snow melt' competition this year??
