Nature Friday - Trillium Edition

The hills are alive with the smell of trilliums! They have a beeswax type smell and it is lovely in the morning and evening.

White trillium's are Ontario's provincial flower (our is the iris). It is illegal to pick them in Ontario. Most of the ones around us are white, but you do see the occasional purple one!

Please enjoy!

Down the road

Too much to sniff to pose with them!

A few in our yard!

  1. A beautiful flower. Remember once visiting the Leelanau penisula (n.w. Michigan), walking in a woods, the ground a blanket of trillium ... absolutely spectacular, and the scent the same!

I never realised these had such a fine smell - though I have seen many a photograph of them. Very pretty and always best left in place - wild flowers never do well in a vase! Lee, I love the photo of you and shadow-Lady - I had to look twice to see that you were not your own shadow! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  6. They are so pretty and we didn't realize they had a scent. We don't see many of them in our neighborhood. They are so special.

  13. Trilliums are a favorite on spring wildflower walks, and I'm told that spring growth is edible, but I'll stick to my burgers. 😊 --Have a good weekend!!
