Mischief Monday - Not Caused By Us!

Our neighbourhood has started a new thing - Friday nights a couple households meet at a fire pit. While our Covid restrictions are slowly decreasing (we don't have a curfew anymore, more businesses are opening) we are still day 441 of lockdown. At the fire this week, the neighbours who own the field across from us were discussing their goose problem. About 30 Canadian geese have moved in and are making a huge poop mess. They asked if we could walk in the field some to help deter the geese.

We don't know how big the field is, but it must be at least 7 acres. It is mostly fenced with the old horse fence. This means we can run. While Hailey hasn't been off leash in it yet, she has been loose leash and 🤞 is doing well.

Here are a few pictures from the field.

  6. Good luck with this important job. In my experience, geese are tough to shake. On the upside, they leave delicious candies named That's-Disgusting in the grass.

  9. Goose scaring in a huge field. What fun!
At certain times of the year our local park gets covered in goose poop, and I can never understand how it is that dog owners get fined if they don't 'pick up' but geese are allowed to mess the place up and get off scot free!
    Toodle pip!

  10. There's nothing like having your dogs off lead and not have to "worry" about safety, too much. But here there are a few businesses here that use border collies to scare off the geese - they work at the airport too. I've no idea how much they charge to do it, but it has to be a pretty good business, especially if the dogs work solely for treats! :-)

  11. How lucky for you to have such a big field for running. We hope it helps with the geese - they sure can be messy. But watch out for ticks too in all that tall grass.
