Nature Friday - Our Cats

Thanks to Rosy for hosting this hop!

If you don't follow KB Bear's blog, I highly recommend it for the dogs of course, but for her amazing wildlife pictures. It was this blog that inspired me to get our trail cam. KB has shared some amazing cat pictures and videos, Bob Cats and Mountain Lions (which are one of my very favourite animals in the world).

Not to be left out, we are going to share the cats our trail cam captured recently.

Our cats are not nearly as amazing, but they have been very helpful. When we first moved here, there were not many outdoor cats around, but in the last year, the numbers have grown. We think someone from a few streets over may have 'dumped' some here and the neighbour up the road keeps her garage door partly open for all of them. The byproduct of this for us has been a significant decrease in mice in the house.  So far we have not had a mouse since October (we had 4 then - our record is 32 known mice removed from the house).

  7. You are so right about KB, her photos truly are amazing on so many levels. But it's a fun coincidence that you got a trail cam to see what critters roam the place you call home because of KB - I wanted one for the same reasons. So, I got one for Christmas. :-) I need to get it set up. I did a trial run in our yard to make sure of the settings, but I need to set it up to see what's stealing my bird feeder at night. I have my suspicions....

  8. We don't have any outdoor cats around here. Occasionally the neighbor's kitty takes a little stroll outside. My Florida associate Miss Charlee says there are lots of feral cats in her neighborhood, and feral chickens too! Yipes!!!!

  9. Its cool to see the cats on the camera. We do have barn cats further up the river, our furrend Paul has put his trail cam up to see if he can get shots of the Coyotes, we shall have to ask him if he sees any cats!

  11. Dilly adds her two cents: It's not nice to have a mouse around the house.

  12. Those cats aren't as exciting as KB's but interesting just the same. It's too bad they have to fend for themselves but at least they are keeping the mice away from your home.

  13. Hi friends, Ojo here! While I'm not a big fan of Cats myself (they're kind of sneaky, if you ask me), those pictures make them look rather wild and majestic! I guess Cats are okay if they take care of the mice, but honestly I will do that for you too! Hire ME instead!

  14. Oh, Ma loooooves our neighborhood kittehs! We have quite a few that come by and chase the rats. They only problem is, we also have a lot of coyotes too, which unfortunately, gets the kittehs sometimes. I always worry abouts them. As long as they stay outta my BACK yardie, all is well! BOL!
    Kisses,
    Ruby ♥
