Nature Friday - Contest Update

Welcome to the first check in of the snow in our yard! These pictures were taken last night around 5:30 pm. They were taken after our evening walk, where we saw people out on snowmobiles. That is right, there is still enough snow for snowmobiles.  We are happy to report we can tell it is melting (and slowly, no major floods like last year). We pretty much have a snow free driveway (not that we take the car anywhere these days!)

We have no guesses for next week. Our first guesses are April 12 (Rosy and the Boyz) and April 15 (Maggie and Cammie). Will the remaining snow melt enough for one of them to win?

The snow is all off the roof!

Looking towards the neighbours house - still snow. We did get to say hi, from a very safe distance to the neighbours kids who were out playing.

Looking into the backyard

Here is the upcoming forecast (in Celsius). Soon Lady may be able to wash and put away the winter gear, but not for awhile. Look at the lows, still warm coat, hat and gloves needed for mornings and evenings. Oh, do we still see some snow?

Come back next week to see if we are snow free!

  2. That still looks like quite a bit of snow but those day time temps will surely melt some of it. We're seeing lots of kids out playing now that they aren't in school all day.

  10. Well at least it doesn't look like you've gotten any fresh white stuff like we did. Luckily it's 99% melted now.

  17. While i was still working, we had a heavy snow. I remember it was during the Clinton administration. They plowed it all to the center of one of the parking lots, covering up a lot of parking places and making a difficult situation even worse for the worker bees. However, we survived. The mountain of snow did not melt until mid-May.

  18. That's a lot of snow! We should have a contest with you some year to see which of us loses our snow first :) We still have a couple of feet but the sun is intense these days.
