This is how she seems a lot of the time |
It has been a week since Lee's prozac was increased. At this time we are unsure if we are happy with how she is doing. It is a bit challenging to know what is the drug and what may have been the extreme heat last week.
We have noticed some changes in her. She remains anxious, especially in the evening (not helped by the fireworks that continue as they are allowed all year here and we live in cottage country). However, she is able to just go and hide. She is less pacy. She has not destroyed anything. She does seem more drowsy/wanting to sleep more. But again, could some of that have been the heat? Finally, she is eating so slow she would not finish her food in her Slo-Bowl. We have put her food in a regular bowl and she is eating at a regular speed. This is a first. One night, she was nervous of the thunder and refused to eat dinner. She just hid.
We are going to give it another week or so and see if she adjusts. Our goal has always been to let her be a calmer version of herself, not a stoned out pup.
The contractor comes to start fixing our wall today! He is doing it in the evenings after his other jobs so it will take some time. We are just happy he is fitting us in.
This is where we are today.
we hope for good news after that week and we cross our paws that you can find the perfect magic potion for professor Lee... hugs and potp

ReplyDeleteon balance, this does seem to be improvement but can totally understand the concern regarding 'stoning'. Love will win... YAM xx
I will cross my paws that all will work out for you, Hailey. Peeps are allowed to fire off those stoopid fireworks here whenever they want too and there always seems to be some family probably having a cookout that just loves the darn things. Mom squirts some Bach Flower Remedy on my foodables in the afternoon and it helps a little bit.
ReplyDeleteWe have our paws crossed that this dose works out well for you Hailey.
ReplyDeleteWe hope things start to quiet down around your place so Lee can get a break.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, we wish we could help dear Hailey learn to manage her anxieties and take things more in her stride. We know she is at least in the best possible hands, and we hope you can find the right level of medication, or whatever helps.
ReplyDeleteOne day at a time. Poor Hailey, hang in there sweet girl!!
ReplyDeleteSending oodles of poodles of thoughts of comfort for your sweet girl.
ReplyDeleteActually, we thought you had a bear cub in your house! She does look like one. We hope you can sort out a calmer, but still, Hailey soon. A zombie dog isn't good.
ReplyDeleteI believe drowsiness can indeed come from the heat ... we see it in our cats. Isure hope you determine it is not from the drug. Your goal for this dear one is a good one.

Poor Hailey. We hope you can find just the right mix of meds for her. After having gone through serious anxiety with Ciara, we feel so badly for you and for Hailey. All paws crossed for things to work out.

Oh gurl, I hopes you gets the meds leveled out, and you can be a calm Hailey. I gets that way with 'beeps'. Yuppers. Fireworks ~ no problem, beeping pressure cooker ~ freak out!!!! I knows, weird, butts if we were predictable, what would peeps do with their spare time and worry?? ☺
ReplyDeleteSendin' lots of POTP and AireZens

Ruby ♥
We hope she will adjust to the new dose
