The End Is Near - Emma Is Going Home Soon!

168 days ago, Cousin Emma arrived at our house for an extended stay. It is hard to believe that in 4 short days, she will be going home. Uncle Chris returns to Canada on June 30th and will be coming to get Emma on July 1st. It will be a very happy Canada Day for us all!

Emma has not been terrible, but she has not been really good either. There have been more nights then we would like where she has decided 2 am is the time she needs to pee. She has had few accidents in the house, but we have had to figure out her food allergies. We have dealt with a lot of upset stomachs. She has been a huge bed hog and needed to be held many nights. She has destroyed a lot of toys. She was not a good walker. She has been nasty to both Hailey and Phod. There was Easter weekend, that we are all trying to block out. Really, it has just been a lot to have a dog who didn't just fit into our well established routine. She is a very spoiled dog, who is use to being carried around and doted on. She is use to being the centre of a universe. In our busy house, while she has gotten a lot of love and attention, she has had to share it.

What I, the Lady have learned, is 3 dogs is too many for me right now. I will stick with my 2 thank you. The Man would say, that is a lesson he is thrilled to have learned.

Now, our project will be to get Chris a girlfriend, so next time he is posted overseas, there is someone to take care of Emma!

Best of luck with the new project. We trust Uncle Chris will look for a partner who is happy to share!

  8. You are a good family member to do that for him, but yes, time for a girlfriend that loves little dogs. I thought about getting a companion for Abby, but we have such a small house and yard, and although I have someone willing to walk one dog they will not walk two and I can't do it with my knee. When Abby leaves us we'll get another Senior rescue.

  9. Good luck finding that girlfriend! Seriously, you guys deserve a gold star for stepping in to take care of her. And extra ear scratches and treats for Lee and Phod.

So will Uncle Chris still be keeping Phod and Hailey when you take your trip?
Maybe we need to Recruit Ruby the AireGal's Matchmaking services for Uncle Chris

  12. I think all of you were very brave - Emma included - to have managed such a change in routine for 168+ days. I think Emma and Chris will both be excited to be back together and back to their old routine. ….just as much as all of you! Enjoy!

  14. That would be hard for such an extended stay. When we had our cousin Willow for a weekend it went pretty well but we were all glad to see her go home

  16. You were very good to let Emma stay with you despite all the problems she brings with her. Phod and Hailey make a great pair, but keep in mind that a different dog from Emma might be a whole different ballgame:)

  17. Crikey ..... that's a lot of days to have someone else's dog in your care. When Herbie comes to stay at our house I love it for a short while but I'm always happier when he goes home. It will be good to get Lady and the man all to yourselves again, aye?? AND I bet cousin Emma will be over the moon to see Uncle Chris and to be going home to her very own home.

  18. Emma and Chris are lucky to have you all to help them out. We're sure your house will feel a little quieter after she is gone but we bet you all will think that's a good thing.

  19. Good luck finding a girlfriend for Chris. It's really hard bringing a "friends" dog into your home even for a short visit.
