Yesterday morning, Miss Hailey alerted us to the fact a bird was in the fireplace again. It has been a few months since this happened. The pups were put in the crate, doors were opened and the bird flew up and really tried to get out the window. What the video doesn't show is I went out on the back deck to the window, scaring the bird and he or she quickly flew out the patio door. It was a lot of excitement before breakfast.
This was the second time in less than a week we had a bird encounter. On Wednesday when both the Man and I were working from home (avoiding traffic issues caused by the POTUS visit to the Nation's Capital) we heard a strange banging noise. Turns out a wild turkey was pecking on our bedroom patio window. He flew away before I could capture it on film.
Note: I am still trying to figure out how to make my videos of the house so they will appear on the blog. I use a Mac, so if any other Mac users have ideas, I would love to hear them. I am totally not patient enough to figure it out.
Happy Independence Day To All Our American Pals!
Wow a bird chase how exciting that would be but SHE too would let it out and ruin my fun. Sorry we have been away so long but we have missed you all. Have a lovely day and great seeing everybody again. Hope to be back soon.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly The Wally
You sure have had some interesting bird encounters. There is a cap you can buy to put over the fireplace to keep critters out. We had to do that to keep then out. Have a great Monday.
ReplyDeleteWOW..... you live in one BIG bird house!
ReplyDeleteDid da scared bird poop in your bird house? Hummmm..... do dey have bird poop bags? I think about things like dis.

I always remember my Mom telling it is was bad luck when a bird came in the house - she wouldn't even have bird ornaments in the house :)

ReplyDeleteHave had similar sorts of 'birdings' in OZ - so far, not here in the Bonny Land. Can't help with Mac-stuff I'm afraid. Hope you find the answer! YAM xx
BOW WOW, I guess I'm not the only troublesome pooch around Blogville! ;)

ReplyDeleteWe haven't had one in for a while, thank heavens! We would have to lock Lilly up, for sure!
ReplyDeleteWe're having a safe Independence Day here!
Turkey. Yum! .... I mean, glad the birdies got to safety and all.
ReplyDeleteYes. That's what I mean.
Cammie!
When you said you worked from home to avoid the traffic jams created by the POTUS in the nation's capital, I first thought, "hey, he lives there!" Then I remembered you were in Canada... XD
ReplyDeleteWhat I always do is create the video and upload it to YouTube, then insert it from there. Not the greatest solution, but it works.
OMD! I loves how your Moms talks to the burdies like they understand what she's sayin'....my Ma does that TOO!!! I thinks our Moms are nutty. Okays, that probably didn't need to be said, butts there...I said it anyhu! BOL
ReplyDeleteDo you guys have screening over your chimney opening? That should stop that from happening again. Though, those burdies are very sneaky....
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
Poor Birdie, you're lucky you got it out. We sometimes get them in our screened mud room and they cannot seem to work out how to get out! Good security alert!
ReplyDeletethe biggest problem we have with the birds is that they are so dumb they fly into our big windows at the back of the house and knock themselves out:(
ReplyDeleteWoos - Ciara and Lightning
I think Mom and I would be afraid of a bird in the house. We are happy that you are so calm and not even freaking out.
ReplyDeleteLove and licks,
Cupcake
On the video question, have you tried uploading your video to You Tube, then downloading it to your blog from there? That's how I do it in WordPress.
ReplyDeleteGreat that you were able to get the bird out...but we bet the doggies would have really enjoyed helping you more :)
ReplyDeletethe critters in the cottage xo
I think those birds are scheming
ReplyDeleteWe have found the easiest way is to upload to You Tube just like Lexi said!

Youtube!
ReplyDeleteThose birds sure are keeping you busy! Sorry that POTUS caused bad traffic.
OMD! You are being invaded by birds!
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo! Ojo and I are joining in! BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK! Whee, that was FUN!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my, glad the bird finally escaped!!
ReplyDeleteAlso a MAC user, and also in agreement about YouTube (or Vimeo) to upload and then embed.
3 bum swings! 3 more!
ReplyDeleteWhat excitement!
We have had a squirrel in the woodstove; it came down the chimney. Thank dog my huMom heard it before lighting the stove. We have also had a flying squirrel on the main floor that our feline bro Pop brought in but I don't remember any birds.
My huMom usually uploads video to YouTube & then attaches or inserts into our blog. You will have to create a YouTube account first. One thing to remember is to click 'private' while you are editing & then public when you are finished. That way no one sees your video until it is ready. Hope that helps.
