An Interesting Find
During our walk on July 1st, Hailey found an egg. The egg, was barely covered with dirt on the shoulder of the road. There is a ditch but not a lot of water around. It is far enough from the beach. However, we think it may have been a turtle egg. It is possible it was moved here by a bird. Whatever it was, unfortunately it didn't make it. I am not sure if Hailey damaged it when she dug it out or if it was already damaged. I was very proud of her for not trying to eat it. (Can't say the same for the dead sparrow she found the day before. Fortunately the "drop it" worked and I didn't have to fish it out of her mouth).

Ghostwriter saw sea turtle nests the last time she visited our Jessy in Florida. They were clearly marked with yellow crime tape and signs that said to disturb a nest was against the law! It made us wonder if the sea gull who allegedly stole that egg will be arrested. Haha!
ReplyDeleteYAY for the "drop it" command! We never ran into a turtle egg before but will keep our eyes peeled!
ReplyDeleteYour Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
Too bad you couldn't eat the sparrow. But the feathers might have tickled your tummy or worse!

Good thing you listened to your mom and didn't eat that egg.
ReplyDeleteOMGoodness, H. Don't even try to eat dead birds or dead eggs. Hold out for something yummy from Mom's plate. Or a floor pie that she drops in the kitchen.

3 bum swings! 3 more!
ReplyDeleteWooftastic find Hailey!
We see many turtle eggs where I live. Sometimes they are whole or sometimes they have hatched. The mother turtles bury their eggs along the shoulders of the roads/highways (sandy).
Wow, a dead sparrow one day & a turtle egg the next! You are a pawsome discoverer!
