See Beautiful - Winter

I am not a winter lover. Even as a 6th or so generation North American, I do not enjoy the cold and snow. The older I get, the less I like it. However, after my time in Iceland, and reading research on how happy Norwegians are in the winter, I have decided to embrace it. I decided I needed a winter activity, and I picked snowshoeing.

For the last week or so, I have been a snowshoer. So far, it is great. We are blessed to have access to a number of acres of woods in the hills behind our house, so we don't have to go anywhere. Hailey has only managed to pull me over once (the first time we tried it). For the most part, Phod can run free (although he did run off on Wednesday). As long as the weather isn't too cold, I can see doing this several times a week.

These pictures are the first taken with our new camera (not replacing our fancy Cannon, but for doing things it can't, like be dropped in the snow - which is the first thing I did - and going underwater), the Olympus Tough-4. I will be able to play with it more and get better pictures when the Man goes with us. It is hard to do with one hand.

Here is some of the winter beautiful!

Phod loves to run along the trail or bounce in the bush to make new trails.

In places the snow is over Hailey's armpits, she has to swim! It is great exercise for her.

A spot in the bush

Almost home. Can you make out our house?

It is so true that we just need that little alteration in attitude to adapt better to what there is, rather than ruing what is not... congrats on the new activity and am super impressed with the neatness of the modern snow shoe!!! Wow, I almost wish we had that kind of winter instead of the soggy soggy soggy kind we which has hit the UK.... YAM xx

  6. I don't like the cold either. But, thankfully it doesn't really get all THAT cold here... I don't think I'd know what to do with myself with all of that snow.

  13. WE don't mind the snow if it isn't super cold. Mom is not a cold person either and we are finding out that Mabel does not like the cold much. While she is outside she will eat the snow and ice but as soon as she comes in she will lay by the heat vent!
Smart to find an activity to help you embrace winter!

  14. Normally I like a little winter but after last year, I'm through with the season, to be sure. Last winter nearly did my peeps in and I was not far behind. Hoping for a little less cold and a whole lot less snow in 2016. purrs

  17. That does show winter beautiful! Mom's favorite winter activity is watching out the window. I like snow, but if it touches my belly, I get scared and turn to stone. Then Mom has to carry me. We are the perfect pair.

  19. That's the best philosophy. Just get in there and enjoy it! You can always cuddle up in front of the fire later.

  27. I enjoy the winter - but I enjoy So Cal's winters. :) I didn't love the winter when we (briefly) lived in Canada and Philly. But those pics sure are pretty! Snow is very pretty - but I only like to visit it. Some day hopefully we'll get to take Rita to play in it! (We hoped for snow on our recent vacation, but it ended up being really warm and sunny.)

  28. Lucky you. That looks like a great place to snowshoe. It reminds me of the forest around our cabin.
