How We Celebrated LeeLee's Birthday

First, we thank you all for the birthday wishes.

Hailey was excited to receive this wonderful card from her French boyfriend, Easy.  Thank you Easy!

We decided we would celebrate her birthday on the weekend, when we were both home. Wednesday night is Man's night out with the guys, so he wasn't home and I had a phone consult. Don't worry, we still sang to her and gave her extra treats and snuggles on her day.

Let's get this party started

I spent Sunday morning making a beef flavoured Bake-a-Bone. It has been a while since I made any type of cookie and I knew Hailey would enjoy them (and it would also be a flavour picky Phod would like). Because I made a whole batch, this is a treat Hailey and Phod can enjoy for a number of days.

Beef Bake-a-Bone - yummmmmm!
While Phod waits for his

Much to Hailey's disappointment, she didn't get a gift. I am embracing a more mindful approach to stuff  and I decided that 2 whole boxes of toys (come back tomorrow to see one of them), a drawer of puzzles and a cupboard of other treats was enough for now.  (When she needs a new toy, she will get one or I will probably feel guilty next time I am in the Pet Store picking up food and cave!).

It is all about me!

  5. that bones look tasty and food is the BESTEST gift if you ask me :o) my momma needs some more time to face that fact, she bought me a eggs-pensive toy today what I threw in my back yard because I couldn't wreck it within 2 minutes :o)

  7. We too have more than enough toys. Maybe one day we will pile them all together. But I think it might actually prove embarrassing, as there are three toy boxes full, and other toys hidden around the house. The largesse is due in part to the fact that the collies are careful with their toys. And some of the toys were favorites of dogs we lost over the years...so we can't get rid of those...yes, it's a problem.

  8. That's a great birthday! I'd like to skip the presents sometimes too, and the girls wouldn't care. But Luke demands new toys just about daily...LOL!

  9. I hear ya about buying toys....I had bought a toy for Dakota for Chanukah and do you know I STILL haven't given it to him? He has 2 or 3 BIG baskets full of toys (I have to donate the gently used ones), and the one he chooses to play with is a mangy 4 year old DOLLAR STORE TOY BOL!!!! He has too much! I usually just make him a special dinner (hamburger and veggies) on his birthday and give him extra treats. The bones you made are a delicious idea!

  12. It is all about YOU! Fresh baked bones! That's better than toys in our opinion. We're more your stomach hounds than toy hounds! (Although we think Man should have told his mates he couldn't make it that week because it was the dog's birthday....bwahaahaa!)

  19. Happy Birthday, Hailey!!! We would rather get homemade treats any day over more toys. Mom is a lot like your Mom - she says our boxes are overflowing with toys - even if she doesn't seem to notice that they are a bit raggedy-looking these days:(

Nice card from Easy - he is a great guy to have for a boy friend.
