On the weekend I went to a party for friends who had just completed their second 101 things in 1001 days list. As they were wrapping up this list the plans for the next list were in place. One of the items was to learn about DNA. When asked why, my friend jokingly said "so I can clone Zaria" (her cat). Her dad asked her why she wanted to clone only one of the two cats and she went on to explain that while she loved them both, she thought having the other again just wasn't necessary. (Athena is anxious and has some issues).This led the Man and I to have a conversation about which pet we would clone if we could. Looking at the six we have had, here are our choices and why:
The Man: Bagheera - Beside from eating the magnet, he was the least troublesome. As he was a cat, he could be left for a weekend. He had longevity.
The Lady: Zaphod - He is my big, sweet, snuggle boy. He has the best temperament of any of the dogs we have had. So far (knock on wood), other than ear infections and a few injuries that could happen to anyone, he has been healthy. It is relaxing to have him around.
Have you ever thought which pet you would have again?

I would totally want another dog just like Phoenix, but I'd want to raise her from a puppy. I think that if I had raised Phee from a young age she would not have the issues she has. Her previous owner did not do right by here and I'm still mad about it. Her good qualities do outweigh the bad but some days are more frustrating than others.
ReplyDeleteMa doesn' thinks she could choose. Each doggie has their own personalities and good thingies and not so good thingies. She says the 'easiest' doggy was her Old English Sheepdog Panda. Such a sweet and mellow doggie! Never any major health issues and a teddy bear! Butts, I SAY, who wants EASY??! pfffffffft!!!! BOOOOOORING!!! I thinks she would REALLY want a clone of MOI!!!! I mean...who WOULDN'T??! ☺

Howdy mates. Mum would have to have them all cloned (and that's quite a few) and then she really would be a crazy old dog (and cat) lady, bwahahahaha. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory
ReplyDeleteIt would be difficult to choose among the 7 dogs we have had. They all have good and bad attributes but we loved them all.

It's an interesting question our person has thought much about. Nature vs Nurture, and would you get the same ME if you cloned me?
I had a very anxious Mom-Dog, and so I am very anxious too. If I was born again to a calm Mom-Dog, I might be calmer. But I might not, if my genetics are also programmed to be anxious.
But part of that is also where I was in the womb (maybe I had less sustenance that some of my litter mates?), and maybe also what my experience was a little pup with six other puppies. Did I get pushed around a lot? Or was I the pusher?
What makes me ME?
And if she trained me differently from the time I was a little puppy, would I love to fetch?
Maybe most important of all though, my person calls me her Soul Dog. If that is true, if my cells were taken to make a new ME, would it still be ME? Would it still by my soul to match her soul? Or would it be a totally different soul in a body just like mine?
This is a very confusing question...
(If you'd asked which pet would our person want puppies from she would have said Ojo, because Ojo would make a good mom and cute puppies. Our person thinks I would just be neurotic... Hey, wait a minute!)
But our person says she loves us both. Maybe instead they can find a way for us to live longer (while still being young and healthy!) and not have to go away over the rainbow bridge so soon?
