19 years ago today, the Man and the Lady decided it was time to get a second cat. They went to look at cats. The Lady fell in love with a orange tabby she thought would make the perfect Shere Khan for her Bagheera. The Man fell in love with a 3 month old black cat. Lady let him pick the black cat as she had picked Bagheera. She thought the perfect name would be Mowgli, again to go with her Bagheera. The Man picked the name Cinder and would not budge on this. Lady had a really hard time with this name as Cinder was her grandparents Black Lab when she was growing up. She couldn't remember it to save her soul. In those first few weeks she called him Clyde, Mint and probably a dozen things she can't remember all these years later. In the end, somehow, Nin, or skinny Ninny (as he was very, very skinny as a kitten) came and it stuck.
Today we celebrate our Nin!
For 19 years we have had the privilege of sharing our lives with Nin. He is likely part Siamese which explains the skinniness and the talking all the time. He has always had the annoying habit of eating too much and throwing up (he doesn't seem to know he is full) and he can sneak onto your nap without you knowing how he got there (we call it his stealthy). He is a very sweet snuggly cat, who is loved dearly, but Lady always thinks he would have made the perfect companion for someone living alone.

Enjoying the sun making his signature "rat" face |
Note the Man has now lost the privilege of naming the animals in the house since this. He may only get it back if it allows the Lady to get another pet in the far, far future!
Aw, look at Nin enjoying that sun puddle, such a contented face
