Feline Friday - Nin's results

I had a video of Nin to share this morning, but for some reason it won't email from my phone to my computer, so I will share it another day.

As you may remember, Nin and I went to the vet on Saturday for his blood work. Dr. Woody called on Wednesday with the results. Nin's thyroid is ok. What isn't looking great is his kidney functioning. He is already on the low protein diet as Baggy went on it about 2 years ago. Our next step is to get a urine sample from him . . . that will be fun. This will tell us more about what his kidneys are doing.

The reality may be, that Nin is just old. He is 18 and his body may have almost had enough. . We will take measures to keep him comfortable (which at the moment he is), but we are not going to do any "crazy" life saving measures. For now we will just love him, even if he wants to sing at the top of his lungs at 5:30 am!

  1. We are also switching Dietzman over to some different cat food for his age. The heat is really hard on him this past week, but he is stubborn and doesn't want to stay in the cool house with us, mom said its cos we drive him nuts!!!

  2. Hey Nin!
Wow, I'm sorry you're having some issues, but I don't think it's right for the dogtor to steal your pee! YIKES. You should at least be paid for it...in yummy treats. Anyway, I'm sending you some healing vibes and hoping all will be well for you.

  8. We had to get urine from our Golden last spring. Wasn't too bad. Use a large disposable storage container and be ready to dive under when he goes! BOL

  9. Oh sweet Nin, hoping all will be well. Sending purrs and prayers. I would upload your video from your phone directly to YouTube, then you can put it on your blog. I do that all of the time.

  12. It sounds like Nin has had 9 lives and then some and at the age of 18 he has earned the right to do whatever he wants. If singing in the early hours is his thing then you all should sing a long with him.

    Aroo to you,
    Sully

  14. Sorry Nin's elderly kidneys are getting tired but that's easy to understand....he's certainly earned the right to sing at 5:30AM hasn't he, being around for 18 years. Bless you for allowing him the right to sing AND the right to life the rest of his life on his terms. Seems a lovely way to honor his life - here's to MANY more songs at 5:30AM!

  16. Gosh, we are going through a similar situation with Twinkie. She seems happy...eats, sleeps, meows commandingly at us, but she's losing more fur than is "normal," and I think she is drinking and pee-ing more than usual. Thankfully she is still faithful to her litter box. I keep reminding myself to keep it very clean because I don't want her to get disgusted with it and start looking for somewhere nicer. She's 17, and I have to start getting used to that fact that my kitty is a grande ole dame.

  17. Sing away Nin! Doesn't sound too bad. He's a pretty old guy, and kidney stuff is so common in the kitties.
