No ball?

Yesterday morning Zaphod woke up with a limp. At first I thought maybe his leg was asleep, but he continued to limp. Despite this limp, he wants to play ball. He will still wrestle with Hailey and run after things in the bush.

Because of this limp we are trying to minimize his activity. He was sad when he didn't go on morning walk yesterday. He is the saddest boy ever every time we go out and we don't take the ball with us. He gives us sad eyes. Clearly he thinks he is in trouble. I of course try to explain it to him, but I don't think he understands.

So he is sulking. We are having a disagreement about when he should go to the vet.

We aren't 100% sure what is wrong. We know it is his front left paw. We think it is his shoulder. He did crash into a tree on Thursday when playing ball. Maybe that is it.  We will keep watching him and try and get him to rest, which will be a bit easier since it is raining out again.

Never a dull moment!

Where's Phody? From before the injury, resting after some fetch!

  2. Hey Phod!
Wow, I'm so sorry you have an ouchie and that it's costing you some zoomie time! Maybe it's just sore and will be better tomorrow. I'm sending you some of my healing vibes to help out. Cute pix of you hiding in the grass.
BTW: I'm glad you and Hailey joined me for Water Mania today. I love that pix of you!

  3. Oh sounds like a sports injury to us. We think a few days rest and if it is not better than the vet. Our old vet use to say pain killers only as a last resort as pain manages less activity but if you medicate and then the pain is masked, dogs will be active and probably cause more damage. He is semi retired but the old kind of gentleman vet and he has never been wrong. Rest up Phod. Have a super Saturday all.
    Best wishes Molly

  4. Hopefully that resting up will take care of it...maybe just a sore shoulder - you'll just KNOW if he needs that trip to the vet....sometimes a rainy day is "just what the doctor ordered" !!

  5. Now Zaphod you need to rest up and heal and get better. The ball will come out again, sooner if you get that limp better.

  7. Poor Phod. It's never fair when you get left behind. We hope it's just a bruised shoulder--something that'll right itself.

  11. I had a similar problem a while ago. My pawrents think it might be from slamming into my brother or sliding on the floors in the house and slamming into the wall or something. They made me rest for about a week and I've been fine since. Hope Phod feels better soon.
